The International Essays Competition – for students,

“SYMBOLS IN THE UNIVERSE OF KNOWLEDGE” - 8.05.2020

Dear Colleagues,

The management team of Jean Monnet Highschool, invites you to participate to the 21st edition of the International Contest of Essays – for students, “Symbols of the Universe of Knowledge”, to be held on Friday, 8th May 2020, 9:00 AM.

The contest will be organized in 3 sections:

-          Rigour and experiment in science

-          Knowledge between science and fiction

-          Man and society in a changing world

During the session, there will be held a contest exhibition of posters on the same theme where students and teachers can participate altogether.

Subscriptions can be made between 1st February and 15th March 2020, online on the high school website https://jmonnet.ro/  or via e-mail: cdenisa@yahoo.com. Please fill in the subscription form and send it along with the abstract of the paper (200-500 words).

Please bear in mind that the organizers intend to publish an ISSN electronic book on DVD gathering the most representative/original essays, therefore coordinating teachers and students must take responsibility for the paper originality by filling the statement attached to the subscription form.

Writing requirements:

-          Each paper will start with an abstract in English or in French (200-500 words)

-          Papers will be single-spaced, in A4, margins 2cm (left, right, top, bottom) and the font Times New Roman, Justified.

-          References will be written at the end of the paper

Students who are not from Bucharest can join the session by sending the abstract and a video presentation / slide show / videoconference (3-7 minutes) where they will talk about personal contribution and the originality features of the work.

Posters can be sent via mail for students who are not from Bucharest.

The final paper will be presented both in electronic and in printed format.

Papers will be presented in sections (5-10 minutes each presentation).

Special awards, prizes and mentions will be given.

Each school will send the best papers following internal selection.

No papers will be allowed following this date.

Papers will be sent by the coordinating teacher after checking the scientific content and the writing requirements.

-          Rigour and Experiment in Science

-          Knowledge between Science and Fiction

-          Man and Society in a changing world

During the competition a contest exhibition will be held on the same topic; both students and teachers are invited to participate.

The application forms will be registred between 1 February – 20 February 2017, at the following email addresses: iolanda.vasiliu@gmail.com and ellalory@yahoo.com  or by fax: 0212305078 by completing the registration form attached at the page 2 and also by sending a short summary of the essay (200-500 words).

Due to the fact that the organisers plan to edit an electronic book with ISSN on DVD, with the most representative and original essays, the coordinating teachers and the students have to assume the origininality of the essay by completing the declaration from the registration form.

Editing requests:

-Each essay will begin with a short summary in English/French of about 200-500 words.

-The work/essay will be edited at 1 line, A4 format, 2 cm left, right, top, bottom borders, in Times New Roman 12, justify alignement.

-The bibliography will be mentioned at the end of the essay.

-Students outside Bucharest may participate at the competition by sending the essay accompanied by a video-presentation/slide-show/videoconference  of about 3-7 minutes with their personal contribution, originality of the work. The posters can be sent by post for the students outside Bucharest.

The final essay will be presented in a electronic format as well as printed. The essays will be presented on sections, each essay should be no longer than 5-10 minutes.

We thank all students who, through their participation in the competition, have proved that they are concerned with a thorough and applied study of the matter in school.
